As I am currently studying to be a professional librarian through Charles Sturt University I find out some very interesting things through the course, but something I was reminded of via a CSU forum just recently is that ALIA (Australian Library and Information Association) actually has an online professional development scheme for anyone that might be interested. When I finish this course I think I am going to become an ALIA member because it seems to keep you up to speed with things going on through the library profession of Australia, although there are fees to being a member so that is something to be pondered. But because they are a recognised library association of Australian if they are doing a professional development scheme its probably current, reputable, informative, interesting and not to mention good for the resume.
